Bible Prophecies and the Present Age

God sent the prophets to dispel His commandments, warn against sin and tell people about prophecies of future events. The Bible holds many prophecies that have been fulfilled and some that have yet to happen. Many Biblical prophecies focus on Jesus Christ, His life, and His ultimate role in the destiny of humanity. The Revival House video "the Bible Prophecy revealed" is indeed enlightening for those who have some gaps in their knowledge.

What was Prophesied About Jesus?

The birth of Jesus: many prophets told the events before Jesus' birth, His role and mission. These were given so that people would be able to recognize Jesus and recognize Him as their Savior.

The life of Jesus

Prophets also foretold Jesus' life with remarkable details. Micah claimed that He would be born in Bethelem, and Hosea stated that Jesus would spend time in Egypt as a child. Psalms talks about how He would speak in parables, and his people would reject him. Isaiah spoke of His sacrifice, and that would bring healing to the people.

The Death and Resurrection of Jesus

All the prophets that were sent by God testified of Jesus. Many of them discussed events that wouldn't occur for hundreds of years. Zechariah knew that He would be ultimately crucified, and most essential is the fact that prophets throughout the Bible taught God's message that Jesus would be resurrected.

5 Prophecies that have been Fulfilled

1. Moses would lead the Israelite exodus

Moses warned the pharaoh that the Egyptians would be afflicted with disease and pestilence and the untimely death of their firstborn sons unless the Israelites were freed. These all came true, and the pharaoh told Moses to leave Egypt, which he did and led them through the Red Sea, which he parted so that they could flee to safety.

2. The destruction of Jerusalem

Jeremiah did predict the destruction of Jerusalem, and the Babylonian did demolish it in 587 BC.

3. The Great Apostasy

Apostasy describes a period where God's authority on earth is not found. After Jesus' resurrection and his ascend into heaven, his followers knew that He would return as He said. The apostasy occurred in the centuries after the Apostles who held Jesus' priesthood, died or were killed.

4. Restoration of Christ's Gospel

God promised that one day His priesthood and gospel of Jesus Christ would be reestablished. This began in 1820 when Prophet Joseph restored His priesthood authority on earth.

5. The Book of Mormon

The prophet Ezekiel said that the writings of the Bible and Mormon would unify His people in righteousness. Both of these books teach us about the Lord and Jesus Christ and how mankind can be returned to live with them.

3 prophecies that have yet to be fulfilled

1. The kingdom of God on earth

Even though the establishment of Christ's kingdom on earth has commenced, it has not reached its final stages yet.

2. The gathering of Israel

The Israelites were scattered all over the earth because they refused to heed His word. But God promises that He would gather His remaining flock, and they will become part of the house of Israel.

3. Jesus coming to earth again

God sent his angels to Christ's apostles and declared that Jesus would come in down in the same manner as he went up to the heavens. The Savior will return and will gain power and glory to rule His kingdom and judge people. The day of Jesus' coming is unknown, but that return will mark the culmination of the Lord's plan and will be a reason to rejoice for those who are waiting for Him.

These prophecies may be ancient, but we should always keep them in mind and lead our lives in such a way that we would be honored to stand in the court of Jesus Christ upon His return. It is also a lesson to those who do not follow God's direction and think they have all the time in the world. Your time starts now!
